Global Travel Technology Leader Amadeus Wins 2016 Red Hat Innovator of the Year Award
Amadeus Cloud Services, built on Red Hat OpenShift Container
Platform, delivers scalable platform to help meet demands from growing
data transaction volume
RALEIGH, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Red Hat, Inc. (NYSE: RHT), the world's leading provider of open source
solutions, today announced that Amadeus, a leading provider of
technology solutions for the global travel industry, won the 2016
Red Hat Innovator of the Year award. They were selected as the 2016
Red Hat Innovator of the Year out of six finalists and category winners
for the 2016 Red Hat Innovation Awards after a public vote.
Amadeus
was recognized for its innovative use of Red Hat OpenShift Container
Platform as part of a new cloud services platform to help companies meet
the increasingly complex demands of travelers. Amadeus has reported they
process more than 30,000 end-user transactions per second during peak
operations. Finding their data transaction demands increasing, many
Amadeus customers wanted a travel application that could run on-site
locally or be accessed through public, private, or hybrid cloud
platforms.
With Amadeus experiencing requests coming from more than 12,000
infrastructure devices, Amadeus needed to create a powerful and agile
computing platform. To do this, Amadeus assessed how various open source
communities address infrastructure architecture and design, including
application containers. Amadeus determined Red Hat OpenShift Container
Platform, with a lightweight container architecture that natively
integrates both Docker and Kubernetes in an enterprise-class and
supported platform, to be a great foundation for its new application
infrastructure. This new platform, Amadeus Cloud Services, based on Red
Hat OpenShift Container Platform, enables better customer service,
increased platform availability, streamlined operations, and reduced
time to market for new services.
The 2016
Red Hat Innovation Award category winners included Acuity Systems,
Amadeus, Atos, BSE, Genfare, and Paddy Power Betfair. The category
winners were selected by a panel of judges, including: Carla Arend,
program director, European Software, IDC; Sean Michael Kerner, senior
editor, eWEEK; Henry Peyret, principal analyst, Forrester Research,
Inc.; and Ashesh Badani, vice president and general manager, OpenShift,
Red Hat.
Since 2007, the Red Hat Innovation Awards program has recognized the
technological achievements of customers and partners who demonstrate
creative thinking, determined problem-solving, and innovative uses of
Red Hat technologies. Winners have included leaders from around the
world and across industries who are using open source solutions to
transform their organizations and enable faster innovation.
