Telecommunications leader builds public Infrastructure-as-a-Service
(IaaS) platform and offers Red Hat Enterprise Linux
RALEIGH, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Red Hat, Inc. (NYSE: RHT), the world's leading provider of open source
solutions, today announced that Swisscom IT Services AG, a wholly owned
subsidiary of Swisscom, Switzerland's leading telecommunications
provider, has joined the Red Hat Cloud ecosystem as a Certified Cloud
Provider partner, offering more choice and flexibility for open cloud
deployments.
In line with the launch of its public cloud Infrastructure-as-a-Service
(IaaS) offering targeting enterprise-class customers primarily in the
Swiss market, Swisscom has extended its ongoing technology collaboration
with Red Hat. Swisscom has been a long-time user of Red Hat
technologies, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux with virtualization,
JBoss Enterprise Middleware and Red Hat Network Satellite systems
management. Today, Swisscom IT Services extends this collaboration into
the cloud with the offering of Red Hat Enterprise Linux by the hour or
year for virtual machine consumption on its IaaS cloud.
"We're excited to expand our work with Red Hat into the cloud today,"
said Eduard Modalek, Head Product Portfolio Management at Swisscom IT
Services. "We have worked closely to enable Red Hat solutions and
support under our cloud model and offering Red Hat Enterprise Linux to
our IaaS customers today means that they have more options and greater
flexibility with their cloud deployments."
"The collaboration between Swisscom and Red Hat offers enterprise
clients access to flexible pay-per-use services that are in demand for
today's cloud deployments," said Scott Crenshaw, vice president and
general manager, Cloud Business Unit at Red Hat. "Joining our ecosystem
as a Certified Cloud Provider means that Swisscom has met our rigorous
testing and certification requirements to deliver our customers solid
technology and consistency in the cloud. This is another step forward in
Red Hat helping to enable enterprises with open cloud technologies."
