Red Hat Selects DSW Partners as Marketing Agency of Record

Red Hat and DSW Partners, Best Known for the Intel Inside

Campaign, to Work Together to Promote Open Source Revolution

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 12, 2000--Red Hat®, Inc. (Nasdaq:RHAT), the leader in open source Internet infrastructure solutions, today announced it has selected DSW Partners as its marketing agency. Best known for the creation of the "Intel Inside" campaign, DSW is a technically savvy, innovative firm that understands the social and technical impact of open source and will work to support Red Hat's leadership in the open source revolution.

Red Hat conducted a ten-week review of twelve top U.S.-based agencies with global knowledge and capabilities. "As we interviewed the top three agencies in our selection process, we immediately knew DSW had the qualifications Red Hat required: superior understanding of the market and a similar corporate culture," commented Teresa Spangler, director of Red Hat's marketing and sales programs.

Based in Salt Lake City, Utah, DSW Partners is a full-service agency with experience in TV, print, interactive, radio, outdoor, collateral, tradeshow, and direct response communications. DSW has demonstrated its proven creative ability with representation of several well-known brands including Intel, Iomega, Alcatel and Ask Jeeves.

In 1996, DSW Partners became part of EURO RSCG Worldwide, a large organizational network consisting of 140 agencies that provides access to a global network of support, providing DSW with the necessary resources to develop and promote the Red Hat brand. With the selection in place, Red Hat and DSW Partners are currently identifying the framework of the relationship and converging the marketing and messaging strategies.

"DSW Partners has been following Red Hat and the Open Source movement with tremendous interest over the past two years," said Casey Jones, senior vice president and account director responsible for the business. "We see Red Hat as one of the five most important technology companies in the world today. We are overwhelmed with the opportunity to help them develop a globally integrated brand."
